Water Bottles Please feel free to send a water bottle in with your child. The children will keep the water bottles in their cubbies but can get sips as needed!
Pretend Center In March we will be changing our Pretend Center to a Workshop. If you have any materials (tools, building materials, etc.) that would work in this center, please send them in. Thank you in advance! Extra Clothes Please be sure that your child has an extra set of clothes in his or her cubby. These clothes should be appropriate for the weather.
Book Bags Book Bags and Reading Logs can be returned each Friday. I will send them home again on Monday. You will find sight word cards in your child's bag as well. These are words you can practice reading at home. Your child can look for them in the books he or she reads with you each night!
Snack We will have a snack each day at around 10:15. The children will also have an opportunity to have a snack at 2:25 during Choice Activities. Our classroom is peanut and tree-nut free. Most children feel the need for a snack during the day, so you are welcome to send a small, healthy snack (nut-free) to school with your child each day. Please separate snacks from your child’s lunchbox, so your child is aware of what food to eat for snack.
Recess and Lunch The children will have recess each day at 11:30. The children will then go to the cafeteria for lunch at 11:50. If your child is buying lunch for the first time, please let us know via note or email so we can best help them make their purchase.
Specials Students will have a “special” class from 1:40-2:25. Our special schedule is on a rotation; beginning with Day A, and continuing through Day D. Day A: Music with Dr. Yannon Day B: Art with Mrs. Kevorkian Day C: PE with Mr. Steinway Day D: Library with Mrs. Zetoff Note: In case of an unplanned school cancellation, we will skip the day in the rotation and continue to the next letter in the sequence. Please keep the schedule handy, so that you can help your child remember when to wear gym shoes or when to return library books. Helpful Hint: When your child comes home with a library book, enjoy the book together. Then have your child return the library book into his/her backpack for easy organization. Feel free to reread the library book, but be sure that the book is always returned to the backpack. Your student will always be prepared for our library special.
Birthday Celebrations Birthdays are very special occasions for children. You are more than welcome to read a book to the class. For children who have a summer birthday, we will have a special summer birthday party at the end of the school year. Due to dietary restrictions, please do not send in any birthday snacks for the class. The school requests that invitations are not sent to school unless the entire class is invited.
After-School Arrangements Any change in your child’s dismissal routine MUST be noted in School Dismissal Manager. Since Kindergarten is a busy place, I may be unable to check my email during the day; therefore, please do not send any changes in your child’s dismissal plan to my email. You are welcome to send in a note about dismissal changes as well as completing School Dismissal Manager.Bus Tags- I will provide a bus tag for your child to wear on his/her backpack.
Travel Folders and Backpacks Please send your child to school with a backpack every day. Your child will come home with a travel folder labeled with his/her name. This folder will be used for notices and other important information. Please be sure to send the folder back to school each day.
Reuse and Recycle We will use a number of household items during center time. If you have any of these items at home, and you would like these items to "find a new home" , we would be more than happy to accept your donation.Items our Kindergarteners can reuse and recycle:Paper towel rollsStationeryEnvelopesfabric scraps, ribbons, glitter, sequinsacorns, shells, flat rocks for painting,Matchbox cars,lego...
